Level 1 Certificate/Diploma in an Introduction to the hair & beauty sector – VTCT

The aim of this programme is to allow students to learn, develop and practice the skills for a potential future career in the Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy sector.

Content

Each unit will enable learners to gain a general introduction to the Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy sector and understand the range of services and treatments on offer.

Learners will develop skills in the following units

• Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
• Presenting a professional image
• Using the Colour star
• Shampoo & condition hair
• Styling hair
• Skin care
• Plaiting and Twisting
• Basic Make-up
• Themed Face painting
• Provide basic manicure
• Nail Art application
• Follow health & safety in the salon
• Reception Duties

Progression

On completion of the qualification candidates may apply to study a level 2 programme in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy, providing their entry requirements are successfully met.

We offer all our students’ placements at our post 16 college Sutton & District to continue on Level 2-3 Hairdressing and Barbering

Additional Information

Assessment is carried out during practical lessons and under observations.
